I woke up at 3:30am the morning of the inauguration to go stand in line for the 12:00 event. People from around the country came to DC to be one of the nearly 2 million on the national mall and capitol grounds to witness history.
This video was take early in the morning as people arrived to their lines.
A ticket, it turns out, did not guarantee entrance into the swearing in ceremony. Thousands of people who had purple tickets were left out because their gates never opened. This video is some of the sights and sounds of people waiting in the purple line.
This is just a little video I shot outside my apartment on Pennsylvania Ave SE the night before the inauguration. Hundreds of people were out on the streets despite the extremely cold weather just to take in the festive mood.
