The Washington Times, on Tuesday Sept. 8, launched a 3 day series that explores the epidemic of rape in Democratic Republic of Congo. As many as 4,500 rapes are reported a month in the nation that has had an estimated 5.4 million deaths since 1999. Photojournalist Mary Calvert and Washington Times UN corespondent Betsy Pisik spent 6 weeks in Congo reporting on this massive violation of human rights.
I had the opportunity to produce a Flash interactive to pull all the content together and present it in a way that let readers experience the story through photography, video, audio and the written story.
